$1,000 RUSSIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (R.E.F.) ORIGINAL World War I officer's photo album and loose photos from the REF and post-war photos on parade etc. with French Foreign Legion. The R.E.F. went to France. Half went to the Western Front and half went to Salonica in Greece. This officer went to Salonica and after the Russian Revolution, he appears to have joined the French Foreign Legion. He appears to have been important as he shows up front and centre at banquet head tables, on parade etc. Photos range from circa 1916 to 1960s. He and his wife lived in Paris after WWI and later he lived in the British Columbia Lower Mainland. Dozens of original photos, large and small. World War I photos mostly identified in Russian. I had a professional Russian translator work with me to translate much of this, but the old handwriting was difficult to read. Some Imperial Russian post-cards (mostly military), English post-cards (pre-WWII?) etc. Photos of REF in France and in Solonica; original cap tally and photos taken on board the French naval cruiser GUICHEN (1897-1921) which transported them to Salonica. More photos of this very interesting grouping available to potential buyers. I do not want to break up the set, even though I could make more money that way. Box is heavy so shipping from British Columbia is a factor. For someone interested in the R.E.F., this is a treasure trove.

$40 Movie poster THOUSAND PLANE RAID. Although the raid was British and Commonwealth in fact, the movie portrays it with B-17 U.S. bombers. Neatly folded.
$200 Original sea chest. Each sailor in a sailing ship had his own sea chest. The sides were sloped and the Beckett were rope handles. It served as a seat as well as a locker. This is an original old one, circa 1880s-1800s. It had to be repainted due to some silly art painted on which was removed. It was repainted in a traditional dark matt blue colour. Inside is the typical little shelf box for small items. The Ashley Book of Knots explains the use of these chests. Dovetailed edges. Overall solid and good condition.
