$200 CAD - Original sea chest. Each sailor in a sailing ship had his own sea chest. The sides were sloped and the Beckett were rope handles. It served as a seat as well as a locker. This is an original old one, circa 1880s-1800s. It had to be repainted due to some silly art painted on which was removed. It was repainted in a traditional dark matt blue colour. Inside is the typical little shelf box for small items. The Ashley Book of Knots explains the use of these chests. Dovetailed edges. Overall solid and good condition.
