Palliative Care Units at St. Paul’s Hospital & Vancouver General Hospital
These are places where people with terminal illness go to die, when they are unable to remain at home. They are comforted and made comfortable as best possible by the caring staff and volunteers.
My brother Robert Duncan Stevens passed away at St. Paul’s from cancer. My mother and father also passed away from cancer, at the Vancouver Palliative Care Unit. Due to caring family and aide workers etc. they had been able to remain in their home until the last week of the illness.
One thoughtful family had donated several months’ supply of cold filtered water to St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit which was very much appreciated by patients in particular.
