The British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught’s Own) is a Reserve Army (Militia) regiment based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They are presently designated as an armoured reconnaissance (Recce) unit. In the 1970s-to early-1980s they were equipped with M38CDN and then M38A1 CDN, M38A1 CDN2 and M38A1 CDN3 Jeeps. In the 1980s these were replaced by CJ-7 jeeps, then the Iltis, then the Mercedez Benz G-Wagon and presently they have the TAPV.
As I have one of their M38A1 CDN3 Recce Jeeps CFR 71-09062, my main interest is in these Jeep vehicles. Here are photos showing the M38A1 family of vehicles in use with the BCR(DC0). They informally called these vehicles the “67 Pattern Jeep”. In my own regiment they were nicknamed “round hood Jeeps” as opposed to the earlier “flat hood Jeeps”.
